Albert ‘Bert’ Knott, 86, a longtime Sedro-Woolley resident, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He was born on November 15, 1920 in Bredenbury, Saskatchewan, Canada, one of seven children of Fred & Steinun Vigfusson Knott.
Bert was raised and attended school on Vancouver Island in British Columbia.
He was united in marriage to Elaine Cameron in Vancouver, B.C. on April 23, 1953. Bert worked at a logging camp in Hollis, Alaska building A-frame hoists to assist in loading logs onto the trucks.
In 1960 the family moved to Sedro-Woolley and in 1962 Bert began working for the W.R.P. Lumber Mill a.k.a. Boyd Lumber & Sedro-Woolley Lumber where he worked for over 20 years.
Bert volunteered his time by helping at the Helping Hands Food Bank in Sedro-Woolley for many years. His passion was camping and fishing his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Steinun, 1 brother, Ford and 2 brothers-in-law Ed Knight & Alfred Hanson.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elaine, at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. 4 sons, Rick of Broomfield, CO, Robert of Burlington, Russ and his wife, Karmen of Sedro-Woolley and Doug of Mount Vernon. 3 brothers, Ed Knott and his wife, Madeline, Fred Knott and his wife, Viola and John Knott & his wife, Margaret and 2 sisters, Stella Knight and Violet Hanson all living in Canada; 13 grandchildren, Tessa Hassler Dave, Jason, Jeremy, Daniel, Brandon, Nick, Eric, Rachael, James Kelly, Steven and Ryan Lauren Knott, Kimi Luederitz Michael, and Katrina Merrion Phillip. 2 great-grandchildren, Blake & Zack Hassler and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Jim Cannon and Mr. Joel Howard officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Bethel Assembly of God Church.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
