Alfred Frank Eberli, age 90, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham, Washington.
He was born July 3, 1917 in Snohomish, Washington the son of Frank and Elizabeth Eberli.
Alfred grew up in Sumas and Clipper in Whatcom County and then resided in Clipper for many years operating a dairy and strawberry farm as well as working at Skagit Steel in Sedro-Woolley as a molder for 25 years. After his retirement, he and Louise moved to Acme.
Alfred was married to Louise Oeschlin on February 14, 1942 in Sedro-Woolley and together they made their home in Whatcom County. She preceded him in death in May of 1986.
He enjoyed working on his farm, driving his tractor, working on hydraulics, and he was proud of his Swiss heritage.
Alfred was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Molders Union.
Alfred is survived by his son, Richard Eberli of Acme and three daughters, Marguerite Abbott and her husband, Frank of Acme, Cathi Johnstone and her husband, Jerry of Stanwood and Linda Hruby of Acme. Eleven grandchildren, Becky Hansen, Angie Simmons, Ed, Jeffrey, Monica and Mandy Hruby, Heidi Hill, Sean and Jeremy Johnstone and Andy and Toby Eberli; and 15 great-grandchildren. One sister, Lena Spanski of Sedro-Woolley and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Tom Martines; three brothers, Robert, Martin, and George Eberli and two sisters, Katherine Jones and Betty Ziebell,
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sedro-Woolley with Father Martin Bourke, Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Church Parish Hall. Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
