Alisha Michelle Canales-McGuire

Alisha Michelle Canales-McGuire

Monday, September 25th, 2017

Alisha Michelle Canales-McGuire “Punky” passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the age of 24 years old. She was born October 29, 1992 in Mount Vernon, WA to Manuel and Michelle Canales.

She lived in Birdsview with her husband Bradley. Alisha and Brad had just been married in July of 2017 in a beautiful beach ceremony at Deception Pass.

Alisha worked as a CNA at Life Care Center in Sedro Woolley. She worked as a caregiver for a good portion of her adult life because she just loved to take care of people and always wanted to help everyone. She grew up on a farm and started working at age 5. She knew the value of hard work and often returned to the family farm to help out.

Spending time with family was very important to Alisha and she saw and spoke with them often, being sure to always say I love you when saying goodbye. She loved to spend time in the outdoors. Alisha enjoyed doing activities such as camping, floating on the river, snowboarding, hiking, and nature walks.

Alisha is also survived by both parents, Manuel and Michelle Canales; grandmother, Mercedes Canales; her siblings, Amanda, Mannie, Adrianna, and Alegria Canales; her nieces and nephew, Eliana, Amaya, Isaiah, Graycelynn, and Addisynn; parents-in-laws, Richard and Sheri Watson; sister-in-law, Breanna McGuire; brother-in-law, William McGuire; as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles, 2 dogs, 3 chickens, 2 lizards, a turtle, and many fish.

Alisha had a strong presence on this earth and she will be greatly missed by many.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

Punky, if only you could read this to know how terribly you will be missed. How many people’s life’s you impacted. My best memories of middle & high school were with you. No matter the time or distance, you were always right there just a call away. My best memory was when you and Brad took me out to Finney Creek after Gannon was born to get me out of the house, you seem to always know what I needed. I will always love you and always think about you. This will be my letter of goodbye until I see you and those whom I also love up there in heaven. Love you punky

  • Alyssa Wahlgren

Punky you will forever be missed. You girl have made such a amazing impact on so many lives. I am going to miss your beautiful smile that always shinned so bright love. One of the last stories I had was us racing to Bellingham and you told me that you could beat me there but the thing was every time I looked back it got hard to see you because you only had one headlight at the time. Then you and Ali called and said where are you where did you go? My response was I still see that one head light! Come girl keep up! I miss you so much and it hurts to not be able to send you silly pictures and get them back. I wish I could give you one last hug and tell you I love you and I will forever keep our friendship close to me. Till we meet again stay close and protect your family and friends like you always have our beautiful angle.

  • Amanda Canales

I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you sissy. Thank you for always being there for me. See you later sis.

  • Danniel Gardner Wilson

I will forever remember our friendship, and the memories you helped create in my life. I am still surprised to this day, that you and I never “got into it”. Maybe I just avoided your wrath, or maybe our personalities just fit perfectly together, but I did notice, and I will forever be grateful for the feelings you have instilled in me. The most recent memory I have that keeps circling in my head is our trip to Oregon. It was like you KNEW that I needed that, and you were the most uplifting and emotionally supportive presence that I needed in my life at that time. I love that we camped in “the white house” or your and Brads HUGE tent in the middle of the PCN hikers field (where there tents were no bigger than their own bodies). We met a lot of great and interesting people and you helped pull me out of a very rough place in my life and remind me who I really was. For that I thank you, and for being you, I will love you forever <3

Alisha, you made the world a sunnier place with just your smile. You will be missed. This is unbelievably tragic. I’m so sorry.

  • Thea Dunlap-Preuss

Alisha I watched you grow up at the markets. You were always warm and friendly with a fun spitfire personality. It breaks my heart that your life was cut so short well before your time. You were a sweetheart every time I saw you and so beautiful inside and out!

  • Andrea Frank

My deepest condolences to her family and those lucky enough to be her friend. I fell in love with that child when she first walked into our office. She was fierce, kind, funny, loyal, etc. She was so protective of her friends. She was also tender and kindhearted. She seemed to take care of others before she would take care of herself. I missed her when she left school and am deeply saddened for everyone who loved her I haven’t seen her in years, but I remember her like it was yesterday.

  • Rene' Coggins
