Anna F. Akin, 86, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2006 at St Joseph Hospital in Bellingham.
She was born on December 6, 1919 in Texas, the daughter of Joseph & Josephine Lindsey Ramer.
She was raised and attended school in Texas & Oklahoma.
Anna was united in marriage to Oscar Akin in Oklahoma in 1938 and they made their home in Oklahoma and Arizona until moving to the Bay Area in CA. During World War II Anna worked as a ‘Rosie the riveter’ welding in the shipyards assembling ships in San Francisco. They settled in Eureka, CA in the early 1970’s.
Anna worked as a sales clerk for the Kress Department Store in Eureka for many years until her retirement in 1990. In 1992 she moved to Sedro-Woolley.
She has been a member of the Church of God of Prophecy for over 50 years.
She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sewing. She also enjoyed baking, and baked a variety of pies for a Kerman, CA restaurant.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Fisher and her husband Keith of Sedro-Woolley and Yvonne Armack and her husband Robert of Madera CA. 3 brothers & sisters-in-law, Ed & Patty Ramer of Meridian, CA, Dick & Mildred Ramer in Arkansas and Jim &Bennie Ramer of El Ceritto, CA; 2 sisters, Reba Robbins and her husband Lester of Hanford, CA and Betty White of Visalia, CA. 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oscar in 1980; a daughter, Patsy Kallstrom; 2 brothers, Herman & Howard Ramer, 1 sister, Sylvia Benton and 2 grandsons, Tom & Larry Miller.
Memorials are suggested to The Gideons International or The Church of God of Prophecy.
Burial will be at Ocean View Cemetery in Eureka, California. Local arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
