Arvid B. Sjogren, age 99, a former Clear Lake resident, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at his residence in Watertown, South Dakota.
Arvid Bernard Sjogren, the son of John and Beda Soderstrom Sjogren, was born on March 1, 1908 at Alexandria, Minnesota.
He had lived in Sisseton, South Dakota for many years.
On June 22, 1935 he was united in marriage to Violet Cooper of Havre, Montana. To this union three children were born. He moved his family to Clear Lake, Washington where he raised his family and worked as a truck driver for a hardwood mill until his retirement in 1973.
His wife, Violet passed away on July 14, 1984 and Arvid later married Gladys Johnson on June 13, 1986 in Watertown. The couple divided their time between Clear Lake, Washington and Watertown, South Dakota for many years until he was no longer able to make the drive. They then made their home in Watertown. Arvid enjoyed fishing, NASCAR racing, and visiting with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Violet and 3 sisters, Helen Bailey, Eleanor Groves and Adeline Nielson.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys of Watertown, SD. His son, Bernard Marilyn Sjogren of Sultan, WA. His two daughters, Reeva Larcom and Martha George Friese of Sedro-Woolley, WA. 10 step-children, Arden Berdine Johnson of Winstead, MN, Dwayne Shirley Johnson of Beardsley, MN, Reverend Lonnie Kathy Johnson of Onsida, WI, LaVonne Erickson of Beardsley, MN, Joan Rev. Dan McGraw of Cheyenne, WY, Bonnie Delwin Voelsch of Watertown, SD, Judy Myron Moen of Blackwell, OK, Linda Halling of Watertown, SD, LaDonna Jerry Gano of Hill City, KS and Donnie Debra Johnson of Watertown, SD. His brother, Raymond Zona Sjogren of Mt. Vernon, WA and his sister, Olga Hogan of Seattle, WA. Eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, thirty one step-grandchildren and sixty four step-great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Clear Lake Cemetery with Pastor Gary Fogelquist of the North Cascade Seventh Day Adventist Church of Burlington officiating.
