Betty Jean Harris, 81, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley.
Betty, born on March 8, 1927 in Longview, Washington, was the daughter of John & Anne Robertson Smith. Her family made their home in Tacoma until moving to Bellingham in 1935 where she was raised and attended school. She graduated from Bellingham High School with the class of 1946 and then briefly attended Bellingham Normal School.
Betty worked at a variety of jobs over the years in the Bellingham and Ferndale areas to help support her family.
She found the love of her life in Larry Harris and they were united in marriage in Sequim, WA on February 11, 1980 and they made their home together in Sedro-Woolley.
Betty enjoyed fishing and trailer-camping with Larry; painting, crafts and flower arranging. She was also active in PTA in Bellingham when her son was young and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Sedro-Woolley.
She is survived by her son, Dan Hoff and his wife, Patty of Bellingham. 2 grandsons, Sean L. Hoff and his fiancé, Erin Elayne Parsons-Wright of Kapolei, Hawaii and Christopher N. Hoff of Bellingham. 3 step-children, Barb Harris and Nancy Rigacci and her husband, Mike all of Sedro-Woolley and Steve Harris of Everett. 4 step-grandchildren, Damon, Guy and Tawnee Harris and Ashley Rigacci. Several step-brothers and numerous step-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Larry in 2001.
A Graveside Inurnment Service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Saxon Cemetery near Acme with Pastor Jay Wise officiating.
Services and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
