Bob W. Dean, 81, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 29, 2007
Bob was born on August 22, 1925 in Big Springs, Texas, the son of Arnold & Julia Belamy Dean.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October of 1942. While he was stationed on Whidbey Island he met the love of his life, Mary ‘Polly’ Palmer and they married after his discharge in 1946.
Bob & Mary lived and raised their family in Seattle where Bob worked as a physical therapist for the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries.
After their retirement, they moved to Sedro-Woolley where they made their home on the Palmer family farm.
Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman, loading his own ammo and tying flies. His favorite activities included hunting antelope with his son and grandson in Wyoming and salmon fishing in Alaska.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Eagles. He volunteered for the Concerned Citizens of Hospital District 304 and enjoyed tending to the roses in his garden.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Dean and his mother and step-father, Julia & Henry Fleenor, his wife Mary in 2005, and sisters, Ione Dykes, Winnie Kelly and Betty Lou Swanson and brother, Michael Fleenor.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Delores and Ron Braziel of Chico, California and his son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Ashley Dean and his most loved grandson, Justin of Sisters, Oregon.
Other relatives include his aunt, Sue Cass of El Paso, TX, his sisters, Pearl Bryant and Billie Sue Lindsay, Jimof New Mexico, Patricia Stroman of Alabama and Darlene Nicolopolaus and brother, Charles Matter Ilaof Texas.
Sedro-Woolley relatives include nephew, Cliff Palmer and his wife, Sue and sister-in-law, Elsie Palmer. He also has multiple nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews across the country.
Graveside services will be held at the Lyman Cemetery on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with a Memorial Fellowship to celebrate his memory on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 1:00 PM at the Sedro-Woolley American Legion Hall. Memorials are suggested to Concerned Citizens of Hospital District #304, PO Box 518 Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284.
