Catherine E. McIntyre, 86, a former Sedro-Woolley area resident, passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2007 surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter in Port Ludlow, Washington after suffering with Alzheimer’s Disease for many years.
Catherine was born on December 1, 1920 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Frank & Elsie Niemeyer Ross.
Elsie later married Charlie Kimball and while she was a toddler, the family moved to Gig Harbor where she was raised and attended school .
There she met George McIntyre and on September 23, 1938 they were united in marriage in Port Orchard, Washington.
George worked in the logging industry and for several years they ‘Island hopped’ until settling in Day Creek in 1954. In 1964 they moved to Sedro-Woolley where they lived for several years, and Catherine worked as a cook at the L&M Drive-In. They later moved to Mount Vernon where they managed an apartment complex. George passed away in 1978 and Catherine returned to Sedro-Woolley for awhile, moving to the Yakima area in 1996 until finally settling in Port Ludlow in 2001
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Arlene & Pat Gallagher of Port Ludlow, WA and her 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Gordon & Nancy McIntyre of Republic, WA and Chuck & Laura McIntyre of Tieton, WA. Eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband George she was also preceded in death by her father, Frank Ross, her mother and step-father, Elsie & Charlie Kimball; a brother, Frank Ross, a half-sister, Annabelle Dietrich and a daughter-in-law, Karen McIntyre. Memorials are suggested to the charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Dennis Fuqua, Catherine’s nephew, officiating. Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
