Cheri Ann Hillier

Friday, November 7th, 2008

Cheri Ann Hillier, 54, a lifelong Skagit County resident and longtime Sedro-Woolley area resident, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 7, 2008.
Cheri was born December 16, 1953 in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, the youngest daughter of Clarence and Gertrude Trudy Swanson. She was raised on Bow Hill and attended Edison Elementary School and then Burlington Edison High School graduating with the class of 1972.
On June 21, 1973, Cheri was united in marriage to Bob Hillier in Startup, Washington. This year they celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. Bob and Cheri made their home in Sedro-Woolley, where they formed and operated the family business, Hillier Trucking. She was the office manager and bookkeeper for the business and in Dad’s words, ‘the best companion, wife, and business partner anyone could ever hope for.’
Cheri’s first priority was her family. She had a huge heart and her giving and kind ways have touched the lives of so many people in so many ways through the years. Cheri had a wonderful sense of humor, love of life, enjoyed her animals, camping, cooking, trips to Leavenworth in the snow, and making sure nobody ever went without. She loved her children, grandchildren, and was thought of as a mother by many.
Cheri is survived by her husband, Bob at the family home in Sedro¬-Woolley; daughter, Becky Hillier and her longtime companion, Randy Welch and his daughter, Karli Welch of Anacortes; daughter, Angie Guffie and her husband Bob, and their children Carson and Amelia of Sedro-Woolley and her son, Chad Hillier and his fiancé, Cassandra Russell and her son, Blake of Burlington.
She is also survived by her brothers, Jim Swanson and his wife Linda, of Burlington, Bob Swanson and wife, Sandie of Bow; sister, Judy Myers and her husband, Bob of Bow. Her mother-in-law, Hattie Hillier of Burlington; sister-in-law, Linda VanderPloeg and her husband Bob of Bellingham; sister-in-law Sharon Hillier, and her husband Butch Monclaw of Pittsburg and a brother-in-law, Doug Hillier and his wife, Carolyn of Sedro-Woolley. Also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends. Cheri was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Trudy Swanson and her father-in-law, Dwight Hillier.
The family would like to thank everyone who has extended their thoughts and kind words of Cheri. It is a comforting reminder of the wonderful impact Cheri had on so many lives. She will be greatly missed by all.
A Celebration of Life for Cheri will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2008, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Hickson Fire Station, 20464 Prairie Road, Sedro-Woolley. Memorials in Cheri’s name are suggested to the Skagit County Humane Society, 18841 Kelleher Road, Burlington, WA. 98233, or to the Skagit County Fire District NO. 8, Hickson Station, 20464 Prairie Road, Sedro-Woolley, WA. 98284.
