Christman A. ‘Art” Petersen, 83, a lifelong Sedro-Woolley resident, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 4, 2015, surrounded by his family.

Art was born on June 7, 1932 in Seattle, WA the son of Alfred C. & Emma R. (Roberts) Petersen. He was raised on a dairy farm and he graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1950. He attended Seattle University for 1 year and then entered the U. S. Air Force as an airplane turret gunner for 4 years during the Korean Conflict.

After his discharge, he returned home and began a 33-year career with the Shell Oil Refinery in Anacortes as an instrument technician, retiring in 1982.

On January 26, 1957, Art was united in marriage to Darlene Isaacson in Bellingham, and for 51 years, they made their home in Sedro-Woolley where for a time they raised beef and dairy cattle on their farm.  Art & Darlene enjoyed traveling, camping and going to the ocean, especially to Klaloch. Darlene preceded him in death in 2008.  He was a member of the George Baldridge Post 43, American Legion in Sedro-Woolley.

Art is survived by his children, Tim Petersen and wife Gennie of Sedro-Woolley and Kim Cartwright and husband Kevin of Camano Island; 4 grandchildren, Kyle Petersen and wife Katie, Kody Petersen and fiancé Nicholle Goodrich, Kelsey Cartwright and fiancé Casey Audette and Kara Cartwright, and 2 great-grandchildren, Kaplen & Kenzey Petersen.  Besides his wife Darlene, his parents and an infant brother, Robert Nels Petersen, preceded Art in death.

The family would like to thank all of Art’s friends and neighbors for their friendship and kindness over the years. Also, thank you to Dr. Ramano for your kind and understanding care.

Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. away at his home on Sunday, October 4, 2015, surrounded by his family.

    I worked with Art for 20 years as a Instrument Tech. Art was my mentor and I appreciated his help in learning the trade. He was a great person to work with and new his job well. I wish his family the best and I know he will be missed.

    Sorry to hear about Art. I remember when we were kids Art would come by 0n his
    Cushman motor scooter an off we would go for a ride. Art would come by in his pickup almost everyday if I happened to be out in the yard he would stop an we would have good talk. Will miss him.
