Christopher James “Stormy” Stormont

Saturday, May 7th, 2016

Christopher James “Stormy” Stormont, of Lyman WA, lost his life after a strong battle at Harborview Medical Center on Wednesday, May 4, 2016.
Chris was born in Plymouth, New Hampshire, August 13, 1946 to Elizabeth Jean Cameron. His stepfather, Charlie Cameron entered his life at the age of 9 and raised Chris and his brother, Michael as his own.
Chris married his wife, Patti, in 1968. Their love stayed strong through the hard, the wild, the fun and the joyful times of life. After 48 years of marriage, they were true partners in life and support.
In 1973, Chris and Patti welcomed their first child, Billie Jane, while living in Anacortes, WA. Within a couple of months, they found their home in Lyman, primarily so Dad could fish the Skagit! A boy, Nicolas James, came in 1975. Chris’s love of the outdoors will be carried on in his children.
Chris provided for his family as a General Contractor in which he found pride. He always said that before he picked up a hammer or saw, he had already built the project in his head. His true heart’s passion and a way for him to find peace was always found on the water. Chris cherished the memories of the many summers spent at Stinson Lake in New Hampshire while growing up.
After serving on the Lyman Town Council, Chris became Mayor of the Town of Lyman. He served from 1999 to 2007 and took great pride in his accomplishments and contributions to the town.
He was nothing short of a brilliant man; a man of stories; stories that changed and evolved into the best stories you ever heard. Stories about life, about fishing, about friends, concepts and theories none of us truly could understand, but knew MOST of them to be true.
Chris is survived by his wife, Patti Stormont; his daughter, Billie Stormont and her fiancé, Eddie Hills; his son and daughter-in-law, Nick and Samantha Stormont and the apples of his eye, his grandchildren, Dylan and Hailey Stormont, all of Lyman Washington. He will be missed beyond words by many.
He is preceded in death by his brother Michael Stormont, his mother, Elizabeth Jean Cameron, and his father, Charles Geddes Cameron.
FISH ON!
A graveside inurnment will be held on Saturday, May 14 at 1:00 PM at the Lyman Cemetery in Lyman, WA and a potluck reception will follow at the Lyman Park near the Cemetery.
