Christopher Zitkovich

Christopher Zitkovich

Saturday, January 11th, 2014

Christopher was called home to the Lord, Saturday, January 11, 2014.

Christopher was born July 1, 1988, to John and Mickey Zitkovich and lived his entire life with his sister, Kayla and brother, Keegun in Concrete, Washington.

Christopher graduated with the class of 2006, attending both elementary and high school in Concrete.

Growing up, Christopher had an insatiable curiosity and a spirited sense of adventure.  He loved climbing trees, and building forts and other contraptions, limited only by the materials at hand and his vivid imagination.  Christopher was a lovable, energetic and happy-go-lucky dare devil who earned a few memorable trips to the ER.  The Fourth of July was Christopher’s favorite holiday, as he liked big explosions and fireworks, he always used to make a grill  and always was informed about the backyard gas grill list of this year.

Christopher greatly valued his family, friends and enjoyed his fellow firefighters and Med. 7 family.

As an adult, Christopher’s passions included being a volunteer for the Grassmere Fire Department and an Emergency Medical Technician for Aero Skagit as well as installing avionics in airplanes.  He was technologically inclined, fiddling with computers and electronics.

Christopher is survived by his parents, sister and brother at their family home, as well as his grandparents, John and Kathy Woodworth and Russ and Peggy Staton, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who will dearly miss him.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Steve and Therese Zitkovich and cousin, Shane Zitkovich.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 17, 2014, at the Community Bible Church, 7282 North D Ave., Concrete, with Pastors Rob Thomas and Bruce Martin presiding.  The Graveside Service will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, Concrete.  Friends are invited to join the family in a reception at the CCD Center, corner of Limestone and E Ave., Concrete.  Memorial Contributions may be made to Grassmere Fire Department, PO Box 2008, Concrete, or Aero Skagit, PO Box 705, Concrete, WA  98237.

Christopher was one of my first kids to have in a Sunday school class I had. Chris and his Sister both brought joy to the class. Their parents were involved and it showed. I always sensed allot of Love in the family. I’m truly sorry for the loss but I trust in God and in these dark times it is God how will get you through it.
    So very sorry

John, Mickey, Kayla and Keegun..you must know that we feel blessed to have had the time we spent with Chris. Working with young people is always interesting to say the least, but from day one, Chris kept us hopping!! From blowing things up in the back room, to my repeated admonishments about that red, faded “Red Apple” hat; I could go on and on. He spent a lot of time with us, and we got to know him well. He still checked in from time to time, and he will certainly be missed. Please know that all of us at “Albert’s” will not forget your boy. We share in your pain. May God bless you.

    John, Mickey and family,

I was so sorry to hear about Chris. My thoughts and prayers are with you, my old friends.

  • Jordan 'Jauris' Chisum

He will truly be missed. Christopher was one of the best people I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing with. Though I never had the opportunity to meet him in real life, I’m glad that I knew him online. He was fun to be around, smart, funny, and compassionate. I feel fortunate that I was able to spend time with him while he was here, and I can only wish the best for his family.

I did not know Chris very well, but he was always friendly and helpful with a smile of his face when I saw him at Alberts’ Red Apple. It was sad to hear of his passing at such a young age. He will be missed.

I can’t even imagine the grief and loss that John, Mickey, Kayla and Keegun are going through. I know that their strong belief in family and faith will comfort them in a time of such an unexplained tragedy.

I will always remember Christopher as that little toddler who went to daycare with Brittany, always so happy and the small boy who played t-ball for me who ways tried to see how many spins he could do while swinging the bat.
Again, always happy, even if baseball was a little too slow moving for such an active little guy.

I was impressed ever time I would see him serving his community at a fire or aid call. He grew into such a fine young man. The world has lost a good soul.

John and Mickey, I love you guys and if there is anything that Brooke or I can do, don’t hesitate on asking.

The one thing I remember most about Chris was our time in Mr. Criner’s shop class of 2003 with Justin Bauer, Nathanial Martin and Wes Cress where I learned of his elaborate plan to rule the world. He was even kind enough to give me Cuba when he succeeded. He showed me a kindness that was hard to come by at that time in my life, at home and otherwise. I just hope that wherever he is, he knows how great my appreciation was for the seemingly small things that he did…as well as his stories of going to the ER!

It’s very difficult to hear of your passing. You left us too soon, Chris.

My thoughts and prayers go out everyone who knew Chris.

My heart breaks for what has happened to Christopher. I send my love and my prayers out to his family. Chris and I were very close throughout our school years, I wish that we hadn”t lost touch. We spoke like the old days the last we saw eachother in August. He was such an amazing person. He was a very dear friend to me, always there when I needed somebody to talk to or make me laugh. He was a needed ally in a series of “unexplained” bathroom fires and right before our class graduated Chris literally saved my life. I pray that he has found peace and that he knew how many people loved him. I will forever miss his kindness, smile, sense of humor and his willingness to show emotion and connect with people on a personal level. I love you Christopher.

Words can not express the sadness of the passing of Christopher. He was a very special person and I am glad I had the chance of calling him my friend. My heart goes out to the family in trying to understand their loss. My prayers are with you at this time. May God watch over you.

I will miss Christopher’s smile and his sense of humor. The Fourth of July was so much fun with him. It was a true joy to watch him carefully “train” Soren (even Savanna!) on how to properly blow things up! They looked forward to spending that time with him, and talked about it for weeks afterward. Uncle John, Aunt Mick, Kayla, and Keegun. I’m praying for you continually. I know your hurt is so deep. Love you all so much.
