Claire B. Anderson, 83, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Friday, February 29, 2008 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley.
She was born on October 3, 1924 in Kalama, Washington, the daughter of Henry & Esther Anderson Duey. She was raised on a strawberry & dairy farm near Chehalis.
As a young woman during WW II she worked as a riveter at Boeing. During her lifetime she traveled to Hawaii, Texas and Kansas and lived many years in California, and at one time lived on a sailboat cruising the coastal waters.
Claire was an excellent tailor and enjoyed making quality garments. She also enjoyed flowers, reading, quilting and home decorating. One of her favorite saying was ‘every meal is a gracious occasion’.
Claire is survived by her 2 daughters, Janet Stonier and her husband John and Jonee Platt and her husband Greg. Her son, Brian Coles and his wife Jan. 4 grandchildren, Patti Nash, Teri Stonier, Rachel Unck and Sally Cole and 3 great-grandchildren, Sydney & Megan Nash and Liam Cole. 4 sisters, Louise Courtwright, Winnie Anders, Helen Butterfield and Peggy Duey and a brother, Glen Duey. She also leaves a dear friend, Beverly Greenslade.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 3:30 PM at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Pastor Rick Miles of the Day Creek Chapel officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
