Clifford D. ‘Buss’ Brooks, age 87, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2006 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA.
He was born December 25, 1918 in Gore Township, Kansas, the son of Clifford and Lela English Brooks.
Buss grew up in Kansas and later served with the US Army during WWII serving in the South Pacific. He was married to Hilda Lacey on July 15, 1939 in Newton, KS.
Buss worked as a airplane mechanic for the Boeing Co in Wichita for 38 years and during that time worked on the Apollo Space Shuttle. In 1981, after his retirement, he resided in Crace Shores, OK for 20 years and for the past 5 years has resided in Sedro-Woolley.
Buss enjoyed fishing, boating, woodworking, mind and cross word puzzles, working on coo-coo and other types of clocks, and photography.
He is survived by his wife Hilda of the family home in Sedro-Woolley. His children, Katherine Rainbolt and her husband Roger of Van Buren, AK, Karen Forbus and her husband Euell of Mountain Home, AK, Carolyn Cone and her husband Steve of Muenster, TX, Dale Brooks and his wife Pat of Sedro-Woolley, WA, and Linda Hancock and her husband Bob of Picayune, MS. 11 grandchildren, Shirley Bustemonte, Edward Dean Rainbolt, Steven Forbus, Robert Forbus, Kimberly Cunningham, Vicki Forbus, Jeannette Cone, Darrin Cone, and Jennifer Geary, Scott Hancock, Mark Hancock, and 11 great grandchildren.
2 sisters, Helen Buchanan of Rose Hill, KS and Phyllis Wolfe of Derby, KS. Numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter Stephanie Brooks, a sister Roberta Marvin, and a brother John Brooks.
Graveside Services will be Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the Union Cemetery in Sedro-Woolley, WA. Arrangements and Services under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley, WA.
