Colleen M. Mast, age 77, a lifetime resident of Sedro-Woolley passed away at her home on Sunday, February 26, 2006. She was born May 1, 1928 in Bellingham, WA, the daughter of Charlie and Genevieve Lindsey Evitt.
Colleen grew up in Sedro-Woolley attending school and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1946. She was married to Vern Mast on August 3, 1946 in Louisville, Kentucky and they would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this year.
She worked as a secretary at Northern State Hospital for a number of years and later worked at Bendix Corporation and United General Hospital. Colleen was a member of the Hamilton First Baptist Church and has served as secretary and treasurer for the church. She was a former member of the Sedro-Woolley Riding Club. Colleen loved to knit and she was always making things for her children and grandchildren. She also made stocking hats for the Sedro-Woolley Wrestling Team and the Pacific Lutheran University Football Team. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, camping, but most of all her life centered around her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for always organizing holiday and family events.
Colleen is survived by her husband Vern Mast of Sedro-Woolley. Her children Darcy Hamilton and her husband Dean of Burlington, Vern ‘Butch’ Mast Jr and his wife Debbie of Lyman, and Tina Hull and her husband Ray of Sedro-Woolley. 7 grandchildren, Lisa Drye and her husband Jay, Kirk Hamilton, Jeremy Mast and his wife Lisa, Meggan Mast, Kelly, Leslie, and Casey Kowalczyk. 5 great grandchildren, B.J. Drye, Makenna Drye, Brady Mast, Cassidy Mast, and Grayson Mast. A sister Shirley Estes and her husband Wayne of Sedro-Woolley.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, March 4, 2006 at 1:00 PM at Lemley Chapel, SedroWoolley with Pastor Harold Thornbrough officiating. Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, March 3, 2006 at Lemley Chapel from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
