Columbus Hubert Kitchen, a beloved husband, Dad & Papa, passed away at his home in Concrete on Monday, October 29, 2007 at the age of 66 years.
He was born on February 5, 1941 in Brevard, North Carolina.
On January 29, 1966 Columbus was united in marriage to Mildred Irene Orr in Pickens, South Carolina. They made their home in North Carolina until February of 1968 when they moved to Lyman, Washington.
Columbus was a dedicated family man. His children and grandchildren have fond memories of camping, fishing, picking cones and especially going on hunting trips with the family. He enjoyed the beautiful outdoors and was loved by many for his outgoing personality.
Columbus was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on May 26, 1974 and faithfully kept his integrity to Jehovah for the rest of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mildred, at the family home in Concrete. His two sons, Wayne Debra Kitchen of Concrete and Mark Kim Kitchen of Lyman.
Four daughters, Debbie Steve Hall of Yuma, AZ, Tammy Jim Cimoch and Melissa Bryan Athearn of Sedro-Woolley and Elisha Donnie Lewis of Lyman.
‘Papa’ is also survived by his 20 grandchildren, Robby Noemi Stratton of Everett, Andrew Stratton of Conway, Joshua Clara Kitchen of Sedro-Woolley, Dan Emily Kitchen of Everett, Jesika Kitchen of San Diego, CA, and Ryein Kitchen Casey Long and Klaye & Kent Kitchen all of Lyman, Dyanna Chad Wentland of Woodinville, WA, Trent Kitchen of Concrete, Jayme Buchanan of Thompson Falls, MT, Jonathon, Benjamin and Grace Cimoch and Riley Jo Holstine all of Sedro-Woolley, Markki & Layne Ashe of Birdsview, Oren Athearn of Sedro-Woolley, Ethan Kitchen and Corey Lewis of Lyman and his two great-granddaughters, Lindsey & Abigail Kitchen of Sedro-Woolley; his many friends and his loyal companion, Chrissy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a son, Tony.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Concrete Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 48235 Moen Road in Concrete with Elder Lynn Mills officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
