Darlene Diane Petersen, age 72, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Burton Care Center in Burlington, Washington surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 9, 1935 in Toledo, Washington the daughter of Arvid and Elma Back Isaacson.
Darlene grew up in Winlock and Seattle and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle. She then attended Western Washington State College in Bellingham and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
Darlene was united in marriage to Arthur Petersen on January 26, 1957 in Bellingham and they celebrated 51 years together in January of this year.
She has been a resident of Sedro-Woolley for the past 48 years and taught elementary education in the Sedro-Woolley School District for 21 years retiring in 1989. She taught at Lyman, Samish, Big Lake, Clear Lake, and Evergreen schools.
Darlene enjoyed traveling, camping at the ocean especially at Klaloch, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. Her children, Tim Petersen and his wife, Gennie of Sedro-Woolley and Kim Cartwright and her husband, Kevin of Mount Vernon. 4 grandchildren, Kyle and Kody Petersen of Sedro-Woolley and Kelsey and Kara Cartwright of Mount Vernon.
The Petersen family wish to thank the staff at Burton Care Center for their wonderful care and compassion during Darlene’s stay with them.
Graveside Inurnment Services will be held on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 2:00PM at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Rosalie Robles officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
Cremation arrangements and services are under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
