David C. Kooistra

Friday, March 13th, 2015

David C. Kooistra, a longtime resident of Everett, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the age of 81. He was born in Yakima, WA to Cecil and Pauline Kooistra on August 9, 1933, the eldest of 3 children.

Dave moved to Everett at the age of 10 and soon after graduating from Everett Community College he joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Honolulu Hawaii. After serving his country he returned to Everett where he married and started a family.

Dave always had a passion for cars and mechanics; he worked as a Chrysler master auto technician for over 40 years ending his career with Dwayne Lanes Dodge in 1995.

Dave will always be remembered for his easy going personality, his love of cars and was admired for his ability to fix almost anything. He loved camping, dancing, watching drag racing and NASCAR but most of all, spending time working in his garage where he was most at home under the hood of a car.

He is survived by his sister, Dorothy (Ken) Johnson; his beloved children, Joyce (Bill) Franks, Len (Paula) Kooistra and Clarice (Gregg) Lee; grandsons, Patrick (Margaux) Pierce and Michael (Stephanie) Pierce; nephews, KJ and Dennis Johnson and two great-granddaughters.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, younger brother Paul and longtime companion Claire Murphy who he missed dearly.

A private graveside ceremony will be held at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park.  Please join us to celebrate Dave’s life on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 2:30 pm at the Everett Eagles, 1216 Broadway, Everett, WA.
