David L. Smith, 51, a Concrete area resident, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the Life Care Center in Mount Vernon.
Dave was born in Sedro-Woolley, on May 9, 1957, the son of Jerry & Eva Klamath Smith.
He was raised in the Big Lake area where he attended grade school and he graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1976.
Dave went to work in the logging industry, operating his own logging company for about 10 years. He then worked in refinery maintenance until an injury forced his retirement in 2000.
Dave was an avid fisherman, often going to Arizona during the winter with his dog, Ginger fishing and regularly going fishing with his brothers and family.
He was also devoted to his family, visiting and calling them regularly.
He was a member of the Sons of Members of the George Baldridge Post 43, American Legion.
Dave is survived by his daughters, Dana Smith of Birdsview and Dawn Smith of Concrete. His former spouse, Tammy Smith of Concrete. His mother & step-father, Eva & Kim Stoltz of Sedro-Woolley and his father and step-mother, Jerry & Norma Smith of Mount Vernon.
His five siblings, Mike Smith and his wife, Shannon, Charlene Doran, Doug Smith and his wife, Tessea, Debbie Springer and Jerry Smith and his wife, Jodi. His fishing companion, Ginger and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a half brother, Tim Flotre.
A Life Celebration gathering will be held at the home of Doug & Tessea Smith, 8127 Healy Road, east of Lyman on Saturday, December 6, 2008 from 1 to 4 pm.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
