David Lee Fox, 85, a resident Sedro-Woolley, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA.
David was born on April 5, 1922 in Franklin, North Carolina, the son of James Henry & Lavada Houston Fox.
He was raised and attended school in North Carolina.
On July 14, 1945 David was united in marriage to Martha Browning in Clayton, Georgia and they made their home in South Carolina and Michigan until coming to Sedro-Woolley in 1951. In 1953 they returned to Michigan until finally settling to Sedro-Woolley in 1955.
David worked for Skagit Steel Bendix for over 35 years. From 1955 to 1957 he worked in the shell manufacturing division; he then took leave and worked in the woods for a year, coming back to Skagit Steel in 1958 where he worked in the chip & grinding shop and the well shop until his retirement in 1993.
He was a member of the International Association of Machinists.
He enjoyed hiking in the Cascade Mountains, vacationing in eastern Washington and visiting family in North Carolina.
David is survived by his wife of 62 years, Martha, at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. His son and daughter-in-law, Steve & Shirley Fox of Sedro-Woolley. Two grandsons, Clint and Chad Fox of Sedro-Woolley. A sister-in-law and Martha’s sister, Etta Fox of Sedro-Woolley and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Henry & Lavada; an infant son, Stanley; two brothers, Leeman & Elisha Fox, an infant brother, Lossen Fox and three sisters, Eleanor Cairns, Elva Crunkleton and Elda Gossnel.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Clear Lake.
Graveside services will be held at the Greenhills Memorial Cemetery in Burlington on Monday, July 23, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor John Batts of the Clear Lake First Baptist Church officiating.
Visitation is available at and services are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
