David P. “Hillbilly” Rabb

Monday, May 1st, 2017

David P. “Hillbilly” Rabb was born October 4th, 1946 in Sylva, North Carolina and he passed away peacefully at home in Sedro-Woolley, on February 1st, 2017.

David served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed for a time in Germany. He moved to the Skagit Valley in 1977, shortly thereafter he met, fell in love, and married his wife, Joan Rabb, in November 1978. Together they built a life on the land they loved so much; “Hillbilly Heaven” was a place of solitude for him. He was very proud of the home he and Joan built together. Any time you went to visit him, you could always find him tinkering on this or that, or building something from scraps. He loved to work with wood and enjoyed doing mechanical stuff. If you ever needed a helping hand or advice, Hillbilly was always there to help. He was a man of many talents. David loved the woods, logging, watching old westerns and the Lord.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Joan Rabb; step-children, Madison Parker and his wife, Lori, Sherry Hornbeck and her husband, Robert, LeeAnn Lebuis, Robert Hilsinger, Lane Hilsinger, Linda Kilpatrick and her husband, Scott, Ronna Hilsinger; daughter-in-laws, Judy Burke and Julie Auckland; brother, J.V. Miller; sisters, Bobbie Jean Parris, Helen McCall, Linda Duncan and Wanda Rabb in North Carolina; grandchildren, Guy, Shantell, Tammy, Ronald T, Wayne, Ronald P, Robby, Rachel, Dana, Weston, Josh, Tyler and Wade; 13 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. David also had numerous nieces and nephews that he loved as if they were his own and to them “Uncle Dave” was special too.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Dorothy Rabb, Robert and Mary Miller; Siblings, Ella Mae, John, Gene and Ruby, and grandson, Ricky Burke.

A Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Day Creek Chapel, in Day Creek, WA. with Pastor Travis Lohman officiating. Share memories of David and sign the online guest register at www.lemleychapel.com.
