Delores Levine Savage

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2015

Delores Levine Kosanke Savage passed away on September 19, 2015, in Mount Vernon, WA, after a long illness. She was born in Ritzville, WA, on May 8, 1929, to Simon and Anna Fauser Kosanke. In 1949 she married Joseph Savage, and the couple had three children: Jeanette, Timothy, and Robert. She enjoyed homemaking, cooking, landscaping, and doing volunteer work for her church.

Delores learned from her parents the value of hard work, and she exemplified that principle her entire life. After taking training in interior design, she used her skills to beautify her home. She was known for her love of beauty and perfection.

Survivors include her son, Timothy Savage (Cheryl) of Tracy, CA; grandchildren, David Savage, Craig Savage, Angela Taylor, Kari Olsen and Kevin Olsen; nieces and nephews Jennifer Savage Tjeerdsma; Mark, Diana, Norm, John, Steve, and Rose Savage; Joelene Meckstroth; Joel, Bob, Gilbert, and Jess Gunderson; Lee LaVigne; Janet Waterman; Lynne Shea; Rod Stroh; several great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joyce Savage Daves, and her cat, Tippy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her son, Robert; her daughter, Jeanette Savage Olsen Christenson; her sisters, Marian Stroh and Arlene Gunderson.

Over the past seven years, Delores’s niece Jennifer Savage Tjeerdsma of Burlington, WA, cared for her as the illness progressed. Jennifer is grateful to special “angels” who assisted her. They include Mark Savage, Joyce Savage Daves, Joelene Meckstroth and Bob Gunderson, as well as friends and professionals, including Beryl Fillmore, Lisa Medici, Sue Dean, and Joe and Bernadene Lacer.

A memorial service is pending.

We are so sorry for the loss of Delores. She was such a grand lady! We have always been blessed by knowing her and her family and extended family through church. Delores spent a short time at Life Care Center in Sedro-Woolley while Jeanne’s mom was there during last stages of cancer and we all sat together at lunch. Delores was always so cheerful and hopeful in spite of illness. Our love and prayers are with the family.
