Dixon “Lee” Manke, Sr., 78, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away at his home surrounded by loving family Saturday, March 28, 2015 of pancreatic cancer.

Lee was born in Bellingham, WA on March 25, 1937, the son of Otto & Noreen

(Bailey) Manke. During the 1940’s he traveled around the western states with his

mother and brothers, Larry and Ronnie, as his dad chased construction jobs from

state to state. The family finally settled in Wiota, Iowa on a farm raising corn, soy,

beans, chickens, cows and pigs. Lee attempted farming but after a few years of

eating “frozen eggs” decided to change occupations. While living in the mid-west

Lee was a life member of the Bellevue Masonic Lodge #325 F. & A. M. in Bellevue, NE.

In the early 70’s he moved to Sedro-Woolley where he worked in the construction and roofing industries until a work place accident forced him into retirement.

Lee was a kind, gentle man with a wicked sense of humor. He was a passionate

outdoors man who hound hunted for bear, cougar and bobcats and was a member of

the Sno-King Hound Association. He enjoyed fishing and camping at “the property” located near Ardinvoir in eastern Washington.

Lee is survived by his son, Dixon Manke and his wife Melissa at the family home, step-sons, Mark, Mike, Dennis and Darrell Danger, grandchildren Kody, Dustin and Bradley Manke; companion, Susie Price and her children Cozette, Marshall and Josephine Price and Jaxon Thomas; his catfishing partner, nephew Kim Manke and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Connie Danger- Manke; companion Eva Goin and his parents and brothers.

A Life Celebration service will be held on Friday, April 3, 2015 at 4:00 PM at the Sedro-Woolley Eagles Hall with members of the Burlington United Lodge # 93 F. & A. M. officiating.  A potluck fellowship will follow services.   Memorials in honor of Lee are suggested to Hospice of the Northwest, 227 Freeway Drive, Suite A, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.  Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
