Donald E. Anderegg, 86, passed away peacefully at Kathy’s Family home in Sedro- Woolley, WA with family at his side on December 2, 2006.
He was born in Kewanee, WI on February 28, 1920. He moved with his family to the west coast and graduated from Willamette University in Oregon, where he studied radio communications.
He served his country for 4 years in the Army, serving in the Burma India Theater as a radio operator in the OSS during World War II.
After the war he worked as a radio announcer at KBOW in Butte Montana where he was introduced to Patricia Hardy, who later became his wife in 1949. They raised three wonderful children, Susan, David and Lisa.
Donald continued to work in the Radio and Television fields until 1969 when he became a Radio Officer in the merchant Marines serving aboard numerous cargo and passenger ships. He spent the next 20 years discovering the ports of the world and which countries had the best fairways to tee off on.
He always arrived back home with gifts from afar and stories of great adventures across the high seas. When he was not traveling you could find him reading, playing backgammon, skiing in his younger years, golfing, or playing a variety of card games with family and friends.
For most of the later part of his life you could spot him in the company of his good friend Ruth Todahl. His humor is something that will be missed by all that new him. He lived well and laughed more than any one person has a right too and will be missed more than a few words can describe.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa & Jerry Cook of Sedro Woolley and Susan Naslund of Texas. His grand-children, Sheila Evans, Adrian &, Jerid Cook, Maria Haaheim, Geoffrey Anderegg and Keola Russell. Several great-grandchildren, sister Joyce Harris of Highland Park, Illinois. His niece and nephews, brother-in-law Jim Hardy. His very special friend Ruth Todahl, and several friends and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1960 and his mother in 1980, brother, Charles Anderegg in 1997 and sister, Grace Nellis in 1999
A Memorial Celebration will be held on December 29, 2006. Please call family for further information if you wish to attend.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
