EDDIE HOWARD EVANS, 72, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 30, 2006.
He was born on August 6, 1934 in Hamilton, Washington, the son of Howard & Loretta Cope Evans.
Eddie was raised and attended school in the Lyman & Hamilton area and attended high school in Sedro-Woolley until moving to California.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the later stages of the Korean War, and served his country proudly for 4 years.
Following his discharge he returned to California and worked for General Telephone for several years until going into construction as a lineman installing poles and wire. He returned to Skagit Valley and worked in construction for Snelson’s for several years.
Eddie was an avid fisherman, especially fly fishing and he enjoyed bird hunting and going to Longacres and watching the horse races.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union, Local 89, the Eagles, Aerie 2069 and the George Baldridge Post 43 American Legion.
Eddie is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susie and Joseph Gerdano and his granddaughters, Shannon & Jennifer all of Sagus, CA. His mother, Loretta Walker of Cathedral City, CA. 1 sister, Evelyn Ironmonger and her husband, Jake of Greeley, CO. 2 brothers, Jim Evans and his wife, Sally of Clear Lake and Kerry Laird of Cathedral City, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard; 2 sisters, Denise Laird and Jeanette Moody, and his longtime companion, Geraldine O’Neil.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 1:00 PM at the Hamilton Cemetery with Pastor Ron Edwards of the Hamilton First Baptist Church officiating. Military honors will be provided by the George Baldridge Post 43, American Legion. Visitation available at, and services under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
