Pleasant, Ella, childElla Clara Pleasant, 88, a resident of Mount Vernon, WA passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the Skagit Valley Hospital.

She was born on September 5, 1927 in Celina, TN, the daughter of Bud Hunter and Lovie Ella (Murley) Harp.  The family moved to California and then to Melissa, TX, where she was raised and attended school.

Ella worked on her family’s farm, in the cotton fields and at the cotton mill as a young girl. She then worked for 20 years as a seamstress for the Haggar Slacks Co. while raising her 4 boys and 3 grandkids with former husband Johnnie Pleasant, and then for Fisher Controls where she retired at the age of 62, making her home in Melissa, TX until moving to Mount Vernon in 2011.

Ella enjoyed playing Bingo, games and cards. She loved to spend time with family and friends and to be involved in her church and community. She held God and family first in her heart.

She is survived by her 2 sons and their wives, Ken & Sherry Pleasant of Mount Vernon and JB & Lucy Pleasant of Melissa, TX; grandchildren, Shane Lessner, Shanna Jenkins, Cheryl Pleasant, Ronald Pleasant, Jr., Alecia Soule, Ken Pleasant, Jr., Kimberly Blackwell, Brian Pleasant, twins, April Bodden and Julie Lessner, Bubba Lessner Taylor,  Zann LaFrance, Rusty and Heather Hall; also numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, former daughters-in-law and extended family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Lovie and Bud; 3 sons, Eddie Lessner, George Hunter Lessner and Ronnie Dean Pleasant; 2 sisters, Mary Lee Mitchell and Catherin Schmid and her brother Buddy Harp.

She was loved by so many, we are happy she’s found her way home, and know she is at peace and smiling down from Heaven.

A graveside service will be held at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Marlin Harp officiating.  Services are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

In Loving Memory of Ella Clara Harp Pleasant
    Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother
    Great- Great, Grandmother, Mother-in-Law
    and Loving Aunt
In tears we saw you sinking,
    And watched you pass away.
    Our hearts were almost broken,
    We wanted you to stay.
But when we saw you sleeping,
    So peaceful, free from pain,
How could we wish you back with us,
    To suffer that again.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day God took you home.
    If Roses grow in Heaven,
Lord please pick a bunch for us,
Place them in our Mother’s arms
and tell her they’re from us.
Tell her we love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
    and hold her for awhile.
    Because remembering her is easy,
    We do it every day,
but there’s an ache within our hearts
    that will never go away.
Don’t think of her as gone away
    Her journey’s just begun
    Life holds so many facets
    This earth is only one
Just think of her as resting
From the sorrows and the tears
In a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days and years
Think how she must be wishing
    That we could know, today
    Now nothing but our sadness
    Can really pass away
And think of her as living
In the hearts of those she touched
For nothing loved is ever lost
And she is loved so very much
