ELMA BOVIER, 93, a Mount Vernon area resident, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2006 at the Mira Vista Care Center in Mount Vernon.
She was born on January 21, 1913 in Granger, Washington, the daughter of Lewis & Surillda Nofsinger Davis.
Elma was raised and attended school in the upper Skagit Valley.
She married Matt Parker in 1927 and they made their home in Marblemount where she raised her children and volunteered as a youth leader at the Marblemount Assembly of God Church. Matt passed away from cancer in 1945. She married Carl Hooper in 1948 and he too preceded her in death in 1954. In 1959 she married Vernon Bovier in Mount Vernon and they made their home in Seattle and Mount Vernon.
Elma worked for a time as a rural mail carrier and drove school bus for the Marblemount School District; worked in housekeeping at Northern State Hospital in Sedro-Woolley and she also worked for a while at Dynes Egg Farm in Mount Vernon.
Elma and Vern also made their home in Seattle for a while and Elma worked in housekeeping at Children’s Hospital until they returned to Mount Vernon in 1977.
Elma is survived by her husband, Vernon, of Mount Vernon. Daughter, Della Parker of Mount Vernon and son and daughter-in-law, Stan & Helen Ann Parker of Concrete.
8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 3 step-daughters, Carol, Connie Marlyn and extended family in Texas. She was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Parker, 4 sisters, Flora, Flossie, Imo and Evelyn, 4 brothers, Delbert, Cedric, Robert & Leonard and 2 grandsons.
Elma’s family wish to acknowledge the staff at Mira Vista Care Center for the loving care for Elma during her stay.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2006 at 1:00pm at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Mr. David Whittaker, officiating. Services are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
