Elsie Marie Elliott

Monday, October 30th, 2006

Elsie Marie Elliott, age 88, passed away Monday, October 30, 2006 at Mountain Glen Retirement Center in Mount Vernon, WA.
She was born March 28, 1918 in Seattle, WA, to Swedish immigrant parents John and Eugena Palm Peterson. John Peterson was a blacksmith employed by lumber companies.
Eventually John and Jenny moved to Lyman, WA where he was employed by Lyman Timber. The Peterson’s were neighbors to the Charles Elliott Family so this is the community where Elsie met and later married Jim Elliott on December 16, 1945. That marriage of over 50 years produced Barbara Elliott Christenson, married to Bob Christenson residents of Mercer Island and granddaughter Kari Jo Christenson of Nashville, TN.
Elsie was preceded in death by Jim in April of 2003.
Jim and Elsie resided on the Garden of Eden Rd. in Sedro-Woolley for many years before eventually selling and moving into an apartment in Sedro-Woolley. The last few years, Elsie has resided at Mountain Glen Retirement Community in Mount Vernon.
To know Elsie is to love her! She was a fabulous Swedish cook who loved to cook and entertain. Elsie was very intelligent, graduating from Chimacum High School at age 16 after skipping two grades. She attended business college in Seattle and after graduating worked for insurance brokers in Seattle. Upon marrying Jim, she became a full time home-maker, but did all of their small company books for many years. According to Barbara, ‘Mom was a professional home-maker. She could do it all and do it well.’ Her greatest love was her family. Elsie has always been a positive person—even in her declining years. She was so very appreciate and felt so richly blessed. Elsie will be missed.
At her request, there will be no services. Inurnment will be in the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Arrangements under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
