Emma Jean Queen, age 74, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the Clayton House in Sedro-Woolley, WA.
She was born August 11, 1932 in Cullowhee, North Carolina, the daughter of Herbert and Nora Queen Young.
Emma grew up in North Carolina and has been a resident of the Hamilton area since 1952. She was married to Troy Queen on November 17, 1949 in Pickens, South Carolina and he preceded her in death in 1967. Emma worked as a field worker for Negatani and Sakuma’s for many years. She enjoyed gardening, playing bingo at the local casino, and most of all she enjoyed her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Queen of Sedro-Woolley. 2 grandchildren, Jessica Brooks and Jason Brooks of Sedro-Woolley and 2 great- grandchildren, Robert, C.J. and Cody Brooks. 4 brothers, Woodrow Young and his wife, Carolyn of Lyman, Walter Young and his wife, Wilma of Sylva, NC, Hayes Young and his wife, Hosie of Lancaster, SC, and Jack Young and his wife, Peggy of Kershaw, SC. 3 sisters, Ruby Melton and her husband, Harold of Sylva, NC, Edna Coggins and, Gladys Webb and her husband, Steve all of Cullowhee, NC. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Troy, a son Alfred Queen, a daughter Patty Brooks, 2 sisters, Lois Connor Allen and Lorena Young and 3 brothers, Edgar, Dillard and Willard Young.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Clayton House for the care given to Emma.
Graveside Services will be Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Lyman Cemetery with Mr. David Queen of Sedro-Woolley officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Clayton House, Sedro-Woolley. Arrangements and Services under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
