Ernest S. Johnson, age 86, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Birchview Memory Care in Sedro-Woolley, WA.
He was born December 19, 1920 in Birdsview, WA, the son of William and May McConnell Johnson.
Ernie was a lifetime resident of Birdsview and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1939. He served in WWII with the US Army from 1942 to 1946 and after the war, he returned home and began his long career as an heavy equipment operator for Scott Paper. Ernie was a member of the Hamilton First Baptist Church and the American Legion. Ernie was known for his great sense of humor, his love of old cars, and being in the woods. He was married to Rosalind Sudderth on January 21, 1995 in Birdsview.
Ernie is survived by his wife Rosalind of Birdsview. A step-daughter, Sherri Farthing and her husband Dale Countryman of Birdsview, two step-sons; Mike Farthing and his wife Lynn of Birdsview, Steve Farthing and his wife Michelle of Arlington and a honorary step-son, David Ward of Monroe. Four grandchildren; Michelle Ward of Monroe, Sarah Searcy and her husband Nick of Camano Island, Michael Farthing of Seattle, and Shannon Farthing of Bellingham and great-grandchildren; Brian Farthing, Samantha and Hannah Curry Ward, and Macsyn Searcy, adopted infant coming from Ethiopia soon. A brother, Clifford Johnson of Olympia, WA and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, September 27, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Hamilton First Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Edwards officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Hamilton Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Acres of Hope Liberia Christian Adoption, 29525 ‘ 4 Corners Store Road, Mason, WI 54856.
