Evelyn Louise Ambrogini, age 80, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at her home in Punkin Center with her family at her side. She was born April 22, 1927 in Horton, Oregon to James and Elizabeth Straight Wyatt.
Evelyn moved to Birdsview as a child in 1930 and attended Birdview Grade School, Concrete High School and Hamilton High School. After graduation, she attended Mount Vernon Business College. She worked as a clerk for the Washington State Brand Livestock Dept and later the Auction Barns in Burlington, Marysville, and Sedro-Woolley. Evelyn later resided in the Spokane area for a brief time working as a restaurant manager for restaurants in Spokane, Coulee City, and Wilbur.
She was married to Horace Conder in 1972 and he preceded her in death in 1988. Evelyn returned to the Birdsview area and was married to James Ambrogini on September 29, 1996.
Evelyn was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #933 and the American Legion #91 Auxillary both of Burlington and she held many offices with the Birdsview Grange #957 and presently was lecturer of the Samish Valley Grange. She was instrumental in organizing the Birdsview Fire Department and was the first women to ride the new fire truck. She was active in the Lyman Baptist Church and was the great granddaughter of Aaron Hooper who organized the congregation and building of the church and was a charter organizer of the Skagit County Blood Bank. She also enjoyed oil painting and traveling. Evelyn was very proud of being a 6th generation granddaughter of William Hooper who was a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
Evelyn is survived by her husband James Ambrogini of Punkin Center. Her daughter, Bonita L. Yeager and her husband Frank and a son, David J. Temple and his wife Debbie all of Birdsview. 3 step children living in Montana and 1 living in Birdsview. 7 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and her 2 four legged friends, Toby and Wally. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Darrell, Ernest, and Richard Wyatt and a sister, Della Mae Wyatt.
Graveside Services will be Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 2:00PM at the Hamilton Cemetery with Mr. Robert O. Royal of Concrete officiating. Visitation will be available at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
