Everett E. Wallace, age 84, passed away at his home in Sedro-Woolley, WA on Thursday, May 4, 2006. He was born September 10, 1921 in Trade, Tennessee, the son of Joe and Ida Wallace.
Everett grew up in Tennessee attending school and served with the US Army during WWII from 1942-1945, serving in all of the major campaigns in Europe with the 263rd Engineers Battalion.
After the war, he returned to Tennessee and later moved to Sedro-Woolley, WA in 1951. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years working on the Ross and Diablo Dams and later major bridge projects in western Washington. Everett grew organic strawberries and raspberries and was the first to start and sell them to international markets. He was a member of Local #302 Operating Engineers and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Everett is survived by his daughter Debbie Lee Wallace Dietrich and her husband Walter of Kennewick, WA, a son Donnie E. Wallace of Day Creek, and his companion Darlene Varrell of Sedro-Woolley. 3 sisters, Ella Gaye Wilson, Nancy Simcox, and Mamie Greer, all of Sedro-Woolley and 2 brothers, George Wallace of Condon, OR and Joe Wallace Jr. of Corning, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Charlie, Kermit, and Denver and 2 sisters, Ruby and Marie.
At Everett’s request there are to be no services. Arrangements and cremation under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. Memorials are suggested to Skagit Hospice.
