Evie Nadine ‘Nicki’ LaFleur, 84, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA.
She was born April 24, 1921 in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Charles and Evelyn Davis Prater.
Evie was raised and attended school in Concrete. In 1936 she was united in marriage to Hugh LaFleur in Anacortes, and they resided in Rockport for 2 years where Evie worked as a cook for the first boarding house in Rockport. In 1942, they moved to Sedro-Woolley and Evie worked for the Sedro-Woolley School District as a cook for 18 years. She later worked as a cook at Skagit Valley Hospital for 10 years and at Camp Lutherwood at Lake Samish.
She enjoyed knitting and cooking and her specialty was cooking pastries.
The family wishes to thank all who provided care and support for Evie over the years, especially Sharon and Joan and her friend Betty. She is survived by 2 sons, Jerry LaFleur and Roger LaFleur and his wife Gail, all of Sedro-Woolley. 8 grandchildren, LaVonne LaFleur and her fiance David, Randy Sanders and his wife, Karen, Mike Sanders and his wife, Lynn, Pat Sanders and his fiance, Angie, Shawn Sanders and his wife Karen, Wendy Bartholomew and her husband, Derrick and Marshall and Carmen La Fleur and 12 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Mike Sanders, 2 sisters-in-law, Effie Anderson and Lillian Suit and numerous nieces and nephews.
Evie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hugh in 1994, a daughter Evelyn Sanders in 1997, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. The family request that memorials be made to Visiting Nurses.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at 3:30 pm at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Wendy Tingley of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church officiating. Inurnment will be at Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Cremation arrangements and services under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
