Frances Marie Hayes, age 88, passed away December 31, 2014, at Skagit Valley Hospital, Mount Vernon.

She was born February 19, 1926 in Chambers, Nebraska, to Frank and Frances Huston.  When only nine years old, she came with her family to Hamilton, Washington, where she attended school, graduating Hamilton High School in 1942.  On December 25, 1943, she married Leo I. Hayes.  She helped her husband in the family logging business until she retired.  They lived in the Sedro-Woolley area during their marriage of 52 years, when her husband preceded her in death in 1996.  She then moved to Mount Vernon in 1999.  Frances was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mount Vernon.

Frances is survived by her five children, Gary and Molly Hayes, Wayne and Pam Hayes, Peggy Ingram, Danny and Julie Hayes, and Raymond and Rose Hayes; 27 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo; six sisters, Berniece, Alda, Laverne, Ethel, Clarice and Laree; her four brothers, Omer, Don, Dale and Duane and her great granddaughter, Kate’Lynn Ingram.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00, Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1515 E. College Way, Mount Vernon, with Pastor John Ruhlman officiating.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Emmanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, or your favorite charity.  Frances will be laid to rest with her husband at Union Cemetery, Sedro-Woolley.
