George C. Russell, 78, a longtime Skagit County resident, passed away in Burlington, WA on October 10, 2018.
George was born in North Carolina on April 8, 1940, the son of J. Robert & Treva (Teague) Russell. In the late 1940’s the family moved to Washington when George was a child, first residing in the Shelton area before settling in Skagit County.
George worked planting trees and worked on local Christmas tree farms until he became physically disabled, so he spent much of his time fishing and in the outdoors. He also enjoyed playing poker.
George is survived by 3 sisters, Dorothy Russell, Betty Dibble and Fran Russell; 2 brothers, David and Keith Russell, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret Lucille Williams a brother, Buddy Russell.
A time of visitation will be available on Monday and Tuesday October 15th & 16th from 9am to 5pm at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley. Memorials in honor of George are suggested to Prestige Care, 1036 E. Victoria Avenue, Burlington, WA 98233, Attn: Activities Dept. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Lemley Chapel.
