George W. Lennox, 78, a longtime resident of Clear Lake, passed away on June 21, 2015 at the American Lake VA Hospital in Lakewood, WA.

He Lennox, George 1was born on June 12, 1937 in Minneola, New York the son of Frank and Florence (Hicks) Lennox.  In 1947, George moved to Skagit County (Clear Lake) with his mother and step-father, Florence & Glenn Card.  He grew up and attended grade school in Clear Lake and attended Sedro-Woolley High School.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1958, and again from 1961 thru 1969 serving two tours in Vietnam.

He enrolled at Skagit Valley College and graduated with an Associate Degree in Business Management. He was employed at Skagit Valley College as the Veteran’s Coordinator. After leaving Skagit Valley College, he was a federal employee with the 104th Division (TNG). He was promoted to Warrant Officer #1 in the Army Reserve in 1978 and in 1979 was called to active service as a Supply Technician teaching Army Reservists Supply. In 1988, he retired from the Army with 21 ½ years of service.

George returned to Clear Lake and worked as a Security Officer within Skagit County, Darrington and Burlington.

He was Past Commander of the VFW Post #2555 in Sedro-Woolley, was active with the American Legion Post #43 in Sedro-Woolley and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #933 in Burlington as a Service Officer and Honor Guard member for both service organizations from 1995 to 2001. He was also an active member of the Skagit County Veteran’s Relief Fund and Chairman for 2 years.  He was still active with the VFW Post #933.

George is survived by his wife, Alma; son, Michael (Jennifer) Lennox; step-children, Cora (Steve) Brandly, Bryon (Linda) Hadaway and Cathy (Gary) Looker; sister, Cindy Card and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was preceded by his parents; his son, George Jr. and step-son Robert “Fat Bob” Richardson.

Graveside Inurnment Services with Military Honors will be held at Clear Lake Cemetery on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 11:00 am followed by a potluck Celebration of Life at the American Legion hall in Sedro-Woolley at 1:00 pm.  Memorials are requested to the American Legion Post 43 in Sedro-Woolley
