Jerry was born to George and Molly (Hergert) Lomsdalen on June 26, 1936, where he was a lifetime resident of Bow, Washington. He attended Burlington-Edison High School class of 1955.

Jerry served in the military from 1959-1961 in Mannheim, Germany with the 104th Transportation Company and later with the 22 Caliber Competition Rifle team. During this time he traveled all over Germany representing his unit in the military. After returning from military duty, Jerry returned to Bow and opened the Old East Edison Garage. In 1962, a fire destroyed his business, where a new building was created on site. He continued his repair shop until the early 1980’s.The building was remodeled and it became the Chuckanut Valley Store or better known as “Jerry’s Store”. A favorite stop for the kids and penny candies. The years spent at the store were some of his most enjoyable, as he loved visiting with all of his customers in his favorite barber chair.

Jerry spent much of his time outdoors. He enjoyed crabbing, fishing, clamming, hunting and being out in the sound. In recent years, Jerry returned to his earlier hobby of trap shooting. He spent most of his time at the Old Skagit Gun Club in Bay View and traveled to other clubs within the area. He found great joy in re-visiting his old passion. When his children were younger, Jerry was instrumental in organizing the Edison boys and girls little league association. He coached the boy’s teams for several years and later went on to coach his daughters. He was a lifetime member of the Edison sportsman club, Old Skagit Gun Club and served on the Skagit County drainage district 18 and Dike District 4 from 2004-2015.

He is survived by his wife, Joline (Medcalf) Lomsdalen, whom he married on July 19, 1958. His children, Greg (Lisa) of Alger, Kelly (Melinda) of Bow, Brenda Marquez (Miles) of California, Deanne of Mount Vernon, and son- in-law Jeff Fisher (Rachel) of Burlington. His grandchildren, Michael, Lauren, Megan, Carly, Emily, D.J., Drew, Alexa, Aaron, and Carson. Great-grandchildren, Madison, Liam, Adria, and Molly (all of the grandchildren thought they were the favorite). Sisters, Jeanne Maloy, Dianne Combs, Patti Dosch (Steve), Kathy Richter (Jeff), and Nancy Lomsdalen, and brothers, Donald (Bobbi), Tony (Michelle). Sisters-in-law, Janell Studebaker (Bill), Dorrie Ambrozic (Ed), and Betty Schwarting. He also had many nieces and nephews that were special to him as well. He was preceded by his parents, brother Danny, mother-in-law Dorothy Medcalf, and father-in-law Emmett Medcalf.

There will be a public viewing on Monday, November 21, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Edison Lutheran Church building fund or North Puget Cancer Center, 2000 Hospital Dr., Sedro- Woolley, WA 98284.   A Life Celebration service will be held at Edison Lutheran Church (Bow, WA) on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at 11 am.  Please share memories of Jerry and sign the online guest register.

Such a gem of a man. And always quick with the smart comebacks. I am very blessed that I knew Jerry. I was lucky to work at the Chuckanut Valley Store (by this time the Breckenridge’s owned it) and got to spend quality time with both Jerry and Joline. Jerry always asked what was new and what I had been up to and spent many mornings running the til while I served breakfast. He was easy to keep happy: just keep his coffee cup full! He shared many stories of his children and grandchildren and you could always hear and see the love he had for Joline. And he never missed a chance to throw you a wave as you drove by the house! He will never be forgotten and I will cherish the pure fact that I knew him. I send you all much love and sympathy during this time of loss. He was and will always be a special man. Thank you for sharing him with me.
