Gerald L. ‘Rob’ Robertson passed away at his home in Alger on Sunday, May 28, 2006 at the age of 60 years.
He was born on August 24, 1945 in Gadsden, Alabama, the son of John & Anne Mey Robertson.
Rob was raised and attended schools in several states on the East Coast with much of that time in Virginia.
In 1963 Rob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, spending most of his enlistment in Japan. After his discharge in 1967 he made his home in Salt Lake City, Utah where he attended college and where studied Kenpo Karate under Edmund Parker and Dale Pettit.
In 1983 Rob moved to Skagit County, living in Mount Vernon. He commuted to Boeing in Everett where he was a commercial aircraft painter.
On October 20, 1990 he was united in marriage to Connie Rupp West in Mount Vernon and they together have made their home in Alger. Rob has been in martial arts for nearly 40 years and was a 3rd Degree Black Belt. He taught hundreds of students in the area martial arts.
He was very active in the Celtic Arts Foundation in Mount Vernon, was a member of the Machinists Union, the American Legion in Sedro-Woolley and the Sedro-Woolley Loggerodeo. He also enjoyed running, hiking, camping and wood carving.
He is survived by his wife, Connie at the family home in Alger. His children and their spouses, Jamie & Tanya Robertson of Concrete, Tami Johnson of Portland, OR, Cheryl West of Mary Ester, FL and Jason & Chaundra Robertson of Lake Cavanaugh. 8 grandchildren, David, Duncan, Brandon, Amber, Jessica, Brody & Harleigh Robertson and Sierra West. His mother, Anne Weaver of Mount Vernon; his father, John Robertson in Alabama; 2 sisters, Joan Workman and her husband Dennis and Mary Weaver, all of Downey, Idaho 2 nieces, Melissa Smith and Taylor Weaver-Barnes; 2 nephews, Mike Workman and Jason Williams and numerous aunts, uncles & cousins. A Life Celebration Party will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at 4:30 P.M. at the Skagit Station, 105 E. Kincaid St. in Mount Vernon. Visitation is available at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley Thursday thru Saturday, June 1 thru 3 from 9 am to 5 pm and on Sunday June 4 by appointment. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
