Gordon Ray Gasho, 76, a longtime Sedro-Woolley area resident, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at St. Joseph Peace Health Hospital in Bellingham.

He was born on January 4, 1939 in Bellingham, the son of John & Lilly (Ness) Gasho.  He was raised and attended school in Friday Harbor on Orcas Island until the mid 1950’s when the family moved to Sedro-Woolley and he graduated from SWHS with the class of 1958.

Following his graduation from high school Gordon enlisted in the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country for four years of active duty and six years in the reserves.

On August 5, 1966 Gordon was united in marriage to Sandy Stoner in Sedro-Woolley and there they made their home and raised their family.

Gordon worked at the Lone Star Cement plant in Concrete as a tram way operator for several years until its closure, at which point he began working as a truck driver at the Intalco Aluminum plant in Ferndale until retiring from there in 1999.  He then worked as a flagger for K & D Flagging for several years.

Gordon enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing and watching sports of all kinds on TV, especially on the outdoor channel.

He was a member of the Prairie Volunteer Fire Dept. District 8 for 25 years, a member of the International Order of Foresters for 47 years, and volunteered countless hours helping with activities and auctions to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County.

Gordon is survived by his sons, Tony Gasho and his wife Laurie of Wisconsin, Jason Gasho of Sedro-Woolley and Gary Gasho of Lawton, OK; his sister, Faye Stewart of Sedro-Woolley; former spouse, Sandy Gasho of Beach, ND; 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Gasho and sister, Lorraine Jackson.

A Celebration of Life potluck gathering will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Samish Grange on Hiway 9. Memorials are suggested to the Boys & Girls Club of Skagit County in memory of Gordon.
