Gunnar E. Jerns, age 89, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2007 in Bellingham, WA.
He was born May 30, 1917 in Custer, WA, the son of Herman and Amanda Wicklund Jerns.
Gunnar was married to Nina Dow on June 8, 1940 celebrating 66 years together residing in the Cain Lake area. He worked as a mill worker for Willis Rogers & Pearson Lumber Mill in Sedro-Woolley for many years. Gunnar enjoyed gardening, woodworking and he was a member of the Prairie Grange and attended the Church of God in Sedro-Woolley.
He is survived by his wife Nina Jerns of Sedro-Woolley. His children, Gunnar Jerns and his wife Wanita of Coos Bay, OR, Diane Koenig and her husband Bert of Sedro-Woolley, Douglas Jerns and his wife Luella of Sedro-Woolley, Ray Jerns and his wife Jeanie of Acme, and Sandra Latham of Puyallup. 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a sister, Clara Yonally of Bellingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, John and Eskil Jerns and 3 sisters, Helga Miller, Adelia Nielsen and Alice Silves and a son-in-law, Steve Latham.
Graveside Services will be Friday, January 12, 2007 at 1:00 PM at the Saxon Cemetery near Acme with Pastor Don Hooser of the Church of God in Sedro-Woolley officiating. Memorials are suggested to Fire Fighters Association of District #18, 3250 S. Bay Dr. Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284 or your favorite charity.
