Tuesday, December 31st, 2013

Homer “LeRoy” Wyatt, 78, went to join his mom and dad on Monday, December 30, 2013. He was born on May 24, 1935 in Springfield, OR, the son of Homer and Fay Wyatt.

His young life was spent in the Springfield area with his family, later settling in the Birdsview area. LeRoy enjoyed traveling to different parts of the world, particular Australia and Mexico.

He is survived by his brother, Mark Wyatt (Shirley), of Sedro-Woolley; sister, Neva Slocum (Don), of Burlington; numerous nieces and nephews and close friend and neighbor, David Butts.

LeRoy is preceded in death by his mom and dad; sisters, Dorothy Hinds and Reba Wyatt; brother, Raymond Wyatt and lifelong friend and travel partner, Dan Sutton.

At LeRoy’s request, there will be no service. Memorials in his honor may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or a charity of your choice. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Shetabi and his wonderful staff, who were like LeRoy’s second family.

Growing up in Hamilton I always knew the Wyatt family and they were kind friendly people to have as neighbors. Leroy always had a kind hello when he saw me out and about town, and he always asked about my family.
We had some fun times riding in his and Mark’s old cutdown Pontiac after dark. One night we hit a fox that ran in front of us, and as I remember LeRoy caught it in mid-air when the front tire hit it and threw it up alongside the car. We laughed and laughed, and LeRoy attached the fox tail to the car for a trophy of that catch.
Knowing LeRoy was one of the fond memories of my childhood days, and I am sure he will be missed by many.
    LeRoy was my friend.
