Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Irene E. Morgan, 89, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Irene E. Finsen on June 17, 1918 in Circle Washington, the daughter of Norman and Mabel Dunlap Finsen. She was raised and attended school in Oroville and Sedro-Woolley and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1936.
Irene was united in marriage to Luther Luke Morgan in Sedro-Woolley on September 6, 1941 and they were married for 58 wonderful years.
She was a member of the Cyrene Chapter #110, Order of Eastern Star in Sedro-Woolley for 60 years.
Irene led a life dedicated to public service. She worked for the state of Washington Mount Vernon welfare office for many years. She recently worked with the helping hands food bank in Sedro-Woolley for many years as a volunteer. She found both places were very full-filling personally.
In her spare time, Irene was first and foremost devoted to her family. There are many happy memories for her surviving family members of hunting, clam digging and fishing trips, visits to a casino, or gardening and canning. She also enjoyed reading, bowling and knitting. Her Santa collection was one of her greatest pleasures that she shared close ties to with her grand children.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brothers, Lawrence and Norman Finsen.
She is survived by her devoted son, Lanny Morgan and her daughter-in-law, Barbara; her loving sister and best friend, Muriel Young and her husband Chuck; her grandchildren, Mathew, Crystal, Patrick, Brian, and Ian. Also many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews that she will leave behind that she loved very much. She appreciated the loving and caring attendance of Nancy, Linda, Mike, and Frances. She spent the past few months in the care of Lanny, Nancy, and Muriel along with her loving dog Lady who never left her side.
Irene loved Sedro-Woolly and the great state of Washington. She had great joy of life and a kind and sincere heart. Her good deeds and thoughtful words will be greatly missed by all.
Memorials can be made in Irene’s name to the Skagit Hospice Foundation, PO Box 1376, Mount Vernon, Washington, 98273.
