Jackie Anderson

Friday, January 3rd, 2014

Jacklyn “Jackie” Anderson, 60, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, went to be with her Lord & Savior on Friday, January 3, 2014 at United General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Jackie was born on November 3, 1953 in Bellingham, WA the daughter of Jack & Joyce (Peltier) Robinson.  She spent most of her childhood in Bellingham, while residing briefly during those childhood years in Seattle, WA and Oakland and Imperial Beach, California.

During those childhood years, her Christian upbringing; her involvement in the care of her father while MS slowly took him; her mother’s work ethic and the closeness of family served to forge the character that was uniquely Jackie.

Jackie was first married while living in Bellingham and from that union her two children, Tammy & Tommy were born.

She later moved to Sedro-Woolley where after working several places, she took the position for which she is best known by many, as the manager of Sparkle Shop Laundries and Cleaners in Sedro-Woolley.

On September 25, 1999 she was united in marriage to Roger Anderson and together they have made their home in Sedro-Woolley.

She was devoted to her children and grandchildren, near & far; family was always first.

She thoroughly enjoyed her work, those she worked with and all of the customers.

Jackie loved to travel whenever possible; she loved to cook for family and friends on holidays, at picnics, barbeques, and Big Lake get-togethers.  As an avid quilter, she spent many hours with her friend, Mary, quilting.    Fishing was a major part of Roger & Jackie’s recreation, often with family and most recently with special family fishing partners Pete & Pam.

She is survived by her husband, Roger, and her little four legged buddy, Brewster at the family home in Sedro-Woolley, WA; her children and their spouses, Tammy & Bill Roberts,  and Tommy Poirier of Sedro-Woolley, WA, Tracy and Brian Ladyman of Sammamish, WA, Erica & Mark Mills of West Bloomfield, MI, and Anker & Jennifer Anderson of Lyman, WA.  Ten grandchildren, Bennet & Greta Ladyman, Alex & Cecily Mills, Ava & Logan Anderson, and Kassey, Korry, Mariah and Marshall Martinson; her mother, Joyce Whipkey of Bellingham, WA; her mother-in-law, Juanita Anderson of Oak Harbor, WA; two sisters, Rozann Arena and her husband John of Brooklyn, NY and Joann Benkendorf of Anacortes, WA; her brother, Darrell Whipkey and his wife Shawna of Ferndale, WA, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Robinson.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Mathey, his associates and staff at North Puget Cancer Care Center for their professionalism, their relentless efforts and their kindness during Jackie’s long journey there.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Tim Forthun of the Life Fellowship Church in Burlington officiating. Visitation will be available on Thursday, January 9th from 12 noon to 5pm and on Friday, January 10th from 12 noon to 7 pm.  The family suggests that memorials be made to North Puget Cancer Care at United General Hospital or the Skagit County Humane Society. Floral arrangements are requested to be sent to the funeral home for services.

Hello Roger and family, I’m so terribly sorry to have recently heard of Jackies death. Jackie and I had lots of good memories working together at the Sparkle Shop cleaners in Sedro Woolly. So sorry Roger for your loss. I know that she will be sorely missed. She was a very energetic person and had such a great talent for the kind of work she did as she helped you out at Sparkle Shop. We took her and her previous husband on our sailboat on one trip. What a tragedy that this happened. looking forward to seeing her again in the resurrection when Christ returns. God bless you and your family,

    With love,
    Sheila Rae

Although Jackie and I were separated after I moved, I will always have the memories of the fun things we did together. Jackie was my maid of honor when I got married 40 yrs ago in Bellingham. Memories of bunny hopping in pink footed pj’s in the middle of the street, trying to keep up with our favorite soap operas are only a couple of the things that have kept her in my heart all these years. I stopped in Sedro Wooley to see her at the cleaners several years ago and found the same warm, lovely lady I always knew. My heart goes out to all who had the honor of knowing this wonderful woman.

    To Jackie’s Family,
I was so very sorry to hear of Jackie’s passing. I can’t begin to imagine how difficult this time must be all of your family. I know Jackie was a beautiful person and I am so thankful that we reconnected even for a short time. I know that this loss will leave a great hole in your lives. We will pray for you all.
Having only recently been reintroduced to my cousin Jackie after many years of lost contact I will cherish the memories I do have. When I was little, our families spent a great deal of time together. Jackie, Rosanne and my sister Barbara were in charge of entertaining us younger kids (and entertain and create games they could!) We played endlessly and saw each other all the time until we moved away. We were blessed to be reconnected by Rosanne in the last years. These memories will always bring a smile to my face. My heart goes out to all of the family during this difficult time
    With love,
    Carolyn Robinson

Words seem inadequate to truely express how blessed I was to be able to call Jackie a friend. I will always remember her for her cheerful smile, thoughtful ways, artistic talent in quilting and most of all always available for a friend to friend talk at any time. Her continued strength in staying positive during her illness will be an inspiration as I fondly recall the memories we shared over time. Thoughts and prayers go out to you, Roger, and the family, as you move forward on life’s journey.

    To Jackie’s family & sister Rozanne :
I am Jackie’s cousin, her dad was my dads little brother. I have many fond memories of Jackie & I playing together as family & spending holidays and birthdays together. Our family moved to alabama in 1962 and we were both 11 years old. I think that was the last te I ever saw her again. I remember how I thought she was so beautiful and we hung out together as we were just 6 months apart. I want her family to know that i’am very sorry for their loss and they will be in my prayers.
May god bless each of you and I hope you will find peace in remembering her and keeping her close in your hearts.
    Love,
    Barbara robinson pilato
