James A. ‘OPA’ Haines, age 59, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley, WA. He was born February 1, 1946 in Fairfax, Oklahoma, the son of Charles and Oma Pixley Haines.
James was a resident of Sedro-Woolley for the past 18 months and formally resided in Concrete and Lake Stevens. He was a journeyman molder and had worked at Skagit Steel in Sedro-Woolley. James enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, and loved sitting by a camp fire. He will be remembered as a friend to everyone he met.
James is survived by his life long friend, Christina Haines Sterkman of Sedro-Woolley. 3 daughters, Charlotte Christina Bryant and her husband Joseph of Sedro-Woolley, Rebecca Ann Omstead and her husband Michael of Anacortes, and Jamie Melissa Haines and her companion Michael Krieger of Sedro-Woolley. 6 grandchildren, Lacey, Robynn, Cody, Victoria, Michael Jr, and Austin. Brothers and sisters, Howard Haines and his wife Norma of Wichita, KS, Elizabeth Shirley and her husband Dave of Terre Haute, IN, Melissa Heath and her husband William of Andover, KS, and Paul Haines of Haysville, KS, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Wendy Tingley of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery on Monday, January 9, 2006 at 2:30 PM with Military Honors provided by George Baldridge Post #43 American Legion. Visitation will be Friday, January 6th from 9 AM to 5 PM at Lemley Chapel.
