JAMES A. TINGSTROM, 81, a longtime Concrete resident, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley.
Jim was born on June 12, 1924 in Scandia, Kansas, the son of Alfred & Olive Allman Tingstrom. In 1928 the family moved to Centralia, WA where Jim was raised and attended school.
He made his home in Olympia, WA and Lake Tahoe, Nevada working as a carpenter in commercial and residential construction for many years.
In 1972 he was married to Lila Mae Nuckols and they briefly made their home in Glacier, WA before settling in Concrete in 1973.
Jim owned and operated the Baker River Trading Post for several years and also the Concrete Tavern from 1979 until his retirement in 1996. His wife Lila preceded him in death in 1997. On January 21, 2000 he was united in marriage to Crescencia Saludo in the Philippines and they have made their home in Concrete.
Jim was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eugene.
He is survived by his wife, Crescencia and daughter, Claire Ann at the family home in Concrete; a daughter, Lynne Lorraine Tingstrom in Florida and several step-children from his wife Lila.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
