James Earl Simmons, 87, a resident of Burlington, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.

    He was preceded in death by Eldeen, his wife of 64 years, and is survived by his children: Nate, Ted, Ann, and their families.

    Jim was a hardworking and friendly family man who was always willing to help anyone who needed it. He was an active member of the Skagit Old Car Club, enjoyed working in his yard and garden, and was very talented in repairing cars and doing home improvement projects. He supported the Burlington-Edison Tiger sports teams, volunteered for the Skagit Mountain Rescue, worked on church buildings, and loved to vacation with his family. He had a long career at the Anacortes Shell Oil Refinery. 

    The family requests that memorials in honor of Jim be made to the Mount Vernon Christian School, 820 W. Blackburn Road, Mount Vernon, WA, 98273.

The Burlington Hill Cross will be lit in Jim’s honor from Saturday, April 21st through Monday, April 23rd. 

    Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Monte Ruble of the Summit Park Bible Church officiating, followed by a fellowship gathering at the Burlington Community Center.  Private interment will be at Greenhills Memorial Cemetery in Burlington. Share memories of Jim and sign the online guest register
