James (Jim) Ralph Hancock died peacefully at Skagit Valley Hospital after spending his last days with his loving wife, children and grandchildren at his side.

He was the second son of two children, born to Maynard Clifford and Lillian Maxine (Robinson) Hancock on June 19, 1943, in San Diego, California.  The family moved to Yucaipa, CA in 1960, where Jim soon met the love of his life, Kathleen “Cas” Oliver.  He and Cas were married on October 22, 1961.  They had three children.  He and Cas relocated to Cas’s native Western Washington in 1985, and to Concrete in 2002.

Jim was a lifelong avid reader.  His career was as a retail meat-cutter, followed by working alongside his wife in the Drinking Water industry.  He enjoyed owning a Pinball Arcade/Pool Hall in San Bernardino, CA in the late 1970’s.  He liked playing pool and loved roller skating and playing tennis with his children.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years; son, Jim, Jr. and his wife, Carla Hancock, of Concrete, WA; daughter, Tracy Lee (Hancock) Sisk, of Shoreline, WA; former son-in-law, Michael Sisk; grandchildren, Amanda Hancock and her partner, Kevin McCracken, of Springhill, FL, Jaimee Hancock and her partner, Frank Rolon, of Atlanta, GA, Vanessa Cadiz and her partner, Ted Saldavar, of Yucaipa, CA, Michael Jr. and his wife, Mara Murrietta, of Beaumont, CA, Jessica (Williams) and her husband Brien Edick, of Reno, NV, Jordan Bradley and his wife, Nicole Sisk, of Bothell, WA, and Kiona May Maxine (Sisk) Daury, of Seattle, WA; great-grandsons, Kasey McCracken and Isaac Sisk, and great-granddaughter, Lily-Anne Daury; father, Maynard Hancock, age 96, of Sacramento, CA; brother, Maynard Kenneth “Ken” and his wife, Debra Hancock, of Sacramento; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and their extended families, both Robinsons and Hancocks.

Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Jamie Ann and mother.

A private memorial service will be held in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s honor to your local library, or become an organ and/or tissue donor, as Jim was.

I got to work with Jim once on a public water system backflow job for the USFS. Jim and Cas worked together an did a great job. I still use that job as a reference for other backfow plans that our office does. Jim accompanied Cas on many occasions to our office and on her water system job sites. He was always very supportive of her and it was obvious that they were great life long partners. Rest in peace Jim. It was a pleasure to get to know you.

  • Ken & Debra Hancock

    Dear Jim,

You were a joy to be around and have around. I know when both Ken and Dad were very ill after Mom passed away you were their savior while I was away in Sacramento, you took such good care of them. I know that took it’s toll on you too.

I was so happy you, Tracy, Kiona and Jimmy made it to Granddad’s 95 birthday party. It was the best time. That was hard on you too, but it was a grand time. I know Grandma was happy you were there.

No matter what went on you were true to who you were and lived life the way you wanted to. That is they way it should be. You and Cas made a great couple. I was blessed to be a part of the family and to know you.

Give Grandma a hug for me. You will be missed, but always loved.

    God bless you,
    Debra and Ken
