Janice Louise Martin, age 90, passed away Monday, July 31, 2006 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA. She was born April 10, 1916 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of John and Isabel Leonard Beck.
Janice was born and raised in the midwest residing in Chicago, IL for many years. She attended Mundelein College and later attended the Art Institute of Chicago for 3 years. She was married to John J. Martin on November 25, 1942 in Chicago and she worked for the A.C. Nielson Co in Chicago for many years. She and her husband John left Chicago in 1975 and moved to Burlington, WA.
She was an avid gardener and she enjoyed painting, writing, and quilting. Janice also enjoyed watching classic movies on television. Janice was a member of the Carolytes and St. Charles Catholic Church.
She will be remembered as one who created love and beauty in the world throughout her life. Janice is survived by her children, Michael Martin of Everett, Suzanne Jedlicka and her husband Dan of Oak Park, Il and their children, Michelle Hunt and her husband Ross of Melbourne, Aus and James Jedlicka of Oak Park, Il, Robert Martin and his wife Julie of Sedro-Woolley and their daughter Sima Martin of Bowie, AZ, and Judy Martin of Burlington and her son, Andrew Neff of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John in 1987, her brother Jack, and a grandson, Joseph Martin.
A Funeral Mass will be Friday, August 4, 2006 at 10:00AM at St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington with Father William Treacy as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Greenhills Cemetery in Burlington. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association 12721 30th Ave NE #101 Seattle, WA 98125.
