Sanchez, Jessie family portraitJesse M. Sanchez 68 of Sedro-Woolley passed away January 7th. Jesse was born on July 08, 1946 in Mabton Wa, to Silveria  and Raul Sanchez.  He was married to Andrea G. Sanchez
Jesse was employed by the State of WA for 30 years. He worked for the Employment Security and WorkSource departments where his workload included processing unemployment claims, helping people find jobs as well as a migrant outreach person and where he handled many employer related issues. This job was perfect for him because he could get out of the office.  He would check with farmers to see if they needed more workers or if they were having any problems that his department could help with such as language barriers and employees attendance. He also took the time to visit the migrant workers in the fields and where they lived to see if they had any problems with the farmers or work. He loved the people he served.  Several times he would see a need at the house of the workers. He would leave and return with the things they needed. (food, gloves, etc.) As an employment counselor and migrant outreach counselor, he was always helping others. He would also cover the office when others needed to leave.

Later in life he came to know his Heavenly Father and Jesus. He had unshakable faith. Jesse was very active in his children’s lives with fishing, boy scouts, camping and his hobbies of coin collecting and baseball card collecting and making rings.  He enjoyed reading books to all of his grandchildren.

Jesse is survived by his son Michael of Sedro-Woolley and daughter Jessica of Mount Vernon; his 4 grandchildren Guillermo, Anastasia,  Jacy and Gabriel;   2 sisters Maria Himenez and Margareta Martinez and brother Gilbert Lugo.
He was preceded in death by his wife Andrea his parents Raul and Silveria and brothers Jose`Lugo, and Raul Sanchez, II.

There will be a memorial service for Jesse on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel Funeral Home, Sedro-Woolley.

I am just learning of Jesse passing away. We were classmates at Granger HS and eventually working for the same department. Although my work was primarily in Eastern WA we maintained close contact. I last spoke with him about 2 or 3 years ago. I never did meet you, Jessica & Michael, however sincerely believe you had the best dad around. On occasion I would be in the Mt. Vernon area and would say let’s go for a beverage after work and he would say “wish I could Mark, but I need to be with one of my kids for some event”. That is Great!! My sincere condolence to all the family. I’m certain your dad is doing very well looking upon you and still taking care of you. Take Care!

    Michael and Jessica,

I am very sorry for your loss! I remember how proud your father was when you were both born. I do know how much your father loved each of you. I hope the memory of your father will comfort you in this time. Know that your father was committed to the clients he served and would do everything in his power to help them. He truly was a gem of a guy. I will always remember him.

    Thinking of you,

I have known Jesse Sanchez since my early twenties, and met him while he was working for the ESD. Shortly after his wife passed away, I was lucky enough to run into him at the new office in Mount Vernon, where he worked over 30 years. Jesse adopted me and my two children and we were happy to have him. Jesse had the biggest heart of any person I have ever known, he always put others needs before himself. Jesse was a very loving and caring man. Michael and Jessica count yourselves lucky to be the children of such a wonderful man. I cry just thinking of the many memories we shared and how much he was involved with his grandson Pee Wee. Jesse will always live in my memories and in my heart. The Bible says, “Revelation 21:4 ESV He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Jesse will truly be missed.

    Dear Michael and Jessica,
I worked with your father at Employment Security- he was always smiling and always helping others. Jesse was so proud of you two.
Now he’s back with your sweet mother. I worked with your mom at the
CSO. Andrea often translated for me- I have a feeling that often she added some of her own advice!
I am so sorry for your loss. You are all in my prayers.
    Sincerely,
    Christy.
