Jo Armstrong, 77, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley following a brief battle with cancer.
She was born on March 24, 1935 in Sylva, North Carolina, the daughter of Charles & Nancy (Mills) Pressley. She was raised and attended school in North Carolina until the family moved to the Skagit Valley in 1952.
After a whirlwind courtship, she married Conrad Latham in late 1952 and they made their home in Hamilton where they raised their boys, Frank, Rick & Russ. They later separated, and on February 14, 1962 she married Al Armstrong and they made their home in Sedro-Woolley.
In 1967 Al & Jo purchased Malone Music in Sedro-Woolley, eventually changing the focus of the store to TV’s and appliances and the name to Armstrong TV and Appliance. But Jo’s main focus was her family and working in her yard.
Jo is survived by her sons, Rick Latham of Everett and Russ Latham and his wife Tawne of Bremerton. Her grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, McKenzie and Conrad Latham and Mandy Sherouse, and her great-granddaughter, Bella Sherouse; 2 sisters, Jessie Bryant of Sedro-Woolley and Maude Claybo of Birdsview; a brother, Charles Pressley of Birdsview and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Frank in 1979, husband Al in 2002, four brothers and 1 sister.
A Celebration of Life potluck gathering will be held at the Birdsview Fire Hall on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 1:00 PM. Private inurnment will be at the Hamilton Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Jo are suggested to a charity of your choice.

    Rick, Russ, and Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. Jo was very special to me and I loved her like a Mother from the time I was 15 yrs old. I will continue to admire her, and follow her advice,. I have always treasured the fun times we shared.

My heart is sad that I am out of State and not able to attend the Memorial Service. I’ve missed you all for such a long time…

My sincerest heartfelt condolences to you all. You all will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
